Splish, Splash (5.1.2012)

This is a great splash page that I caught in the latest issue of the Justice League.  I am particularly partial to Martian Manhunter (obviously) and besides Stormwatch this is his first foray into the new DC continuity.  Jim Lee's artwork (especially his splash pages) is spectacular, and this is no exception!  This one piece has a lot going on in it.  I also really appreciate Lee's attention to detail in representing Martian Manhunter's gambit of powers.  His strength, heat vision, intangibility, etc. are all included in this splash page, which adds that little extra touch that makes a great splash page into an amazing one.

Flashpoint #2

Just picked and read “Flashpoint #2″ yesterday and boy did I enjoy it!  I definitely like where the overall arc is heading, and I absolutely love Andy Kubert‘s art.  I definitely enjoy the changes that they have made, but I am very curious as to the implications.  I am greatly looking forward to the next three issues.  I am hoping Geoff Johns will dive more into the war between Aquaman and Wonder Woman in Flashpoint #3.  Nevertheless, I appreciated the newest issue of Flashpoint.  It has amazing potential.  I think as of now I would rank Flashpoint #1 over #2 based on the surprise that Batman was in fact Thomas Wayne instead of Bruce Wayne.  I like the final shot that they left us with, and even though I am not a huge Batman fan I loved the dynamic that was posed with Thomas being Batman instead of Bruce Wayne or Dick Grayson or any other individual for that matter.  Here is some eye candy courtesy of Andy Kubert & Sandra Hope.  Check it out and do not feel shy to comment.

52 new #1′s debuting after Flashpoint #5

Everyone has been a buzz about DC’s new announcement that after Flashpoint #5 releases there will be a radical altering of the DC Universe thus creating 52 new #1 issues that could range from anything…to well, anything really.  The entire mythos of characters could be changed and new/old characters can and could be reintroduced with the sudden shake up of the universe.  Essentially it is anyone’s guess!  I very excited and scared to see what the new DC Universe has in store and what that will mean for longtime comic book fans.  I have feeling that my comic book budget might skyrocket during September of this year.  Nevertheless, check out this still of Justice League #1…the first of firsts if you will.
