Here is the quicky of the week.  Flashpoint #5 cover by legendary artist, Andy Kubert.  It is absolutely phenomenal.  The final issue of Flashpoint looks amazing and hopefully DC will not rattle the cage too much with the conclusion of Flashpoint and their new 52 relaunch.  Regardless, this piece of art is stunning.

It's a Batman Extravaganza!

So, after work today I picked up my obese black and tan Dachshund from my parents house and fretted on home only to be bombarded by an immense amount of awesome Batman news via MacBook.

First off, “Batman: The Dark Knight Rises” promotional movie poster, which released today, features the Bat logo framed by collapsing Gotham (presumably) skyscrapers.  Supposedly the Superman logo is hidden in the lower left-hand corner of the poster, hinting at Christopher Nolan producing credit in Zack Snyder‘s Superman reboot (The Man of Steel), however, I was unable to ‘see’ the logo even when it was directly pointed out to me.  It very well could be just another rumor amongst rumors, but regardless here is the poster in all its batiness:

Also, in Bat news was the much speculated CE of Batman: Arkham City was finally leaked via Best Buy.  Thus far no details on what the $100 package will include, but if it is anything like Arkham Asylum’s CE package it will be a for sure must have.  Here are some shots of the upcoming title, which releases this October:

And, finally, but not least importantly, is the newly released cover for Batman #2 featuring the artistic talent of Greg Capullo.  I cannot wait for DC’s relaunch so that I can  dive into the new Bat Family titles; I have a feeling I will be reading a lot more Batman come this fall.  Here is the aforementioned cover in color followed by the same cover in black and white (I am particularly partial to the black and white cover myself…variant perhaps?):

Project Superman

Like many, many comic aficionados out there I just finished reading Flashpoint #3 Wednesday evening along with Fear Itself #4, and I was wondering what everyone thinks of Superman’s role in Flashpoint?  The last panel of Flashpoint #3 and the Project Superman tie-in definitely pose some interesting questions to readers.

To recap, Kal-El crash landed in Metropolis as a baby (killing thousands) and has been held captive underground by the government for decades thus negating his powers due to the lack of sunlight.  Within the pages of Flashpoint #3 the Flash, Batman, and Cyborg break Kal-El out of his prison and Superman ends up escaping out of the darkness and into the light by embracing his abilities to fly and heat vision almost immediately upon release and exposure to the sunlight.

Will Superman be corrupted because of his captivity?  Will he just naturally enforce justice due to his inherent character?  Basically it breaks down to a nature vs nurture debate.  Nevertheless, I would love to hear everyone’s input; whether it be support for the numerous theories out there or a completely new idea that no one has thought of yet I would love to read about it.  To further the thought process here is some Project Superman eye candy:

The Flashpoint Joker is…Martha Wayne!?

The Flashpoint series, as well as, its tie-ins have been phenomenal to say the least, and if DC accomplishes what they are trying to pull off than they will have changed the comic book industry and history of their franchises forever.  No small feat!

One of the most interesting of these tie-ins is Batman: Knight of Vengeance.  According to the numbers this tie-in has outsold any other tie-in including all of the Fear Itself tie-ins!  Which is definitely an amazing accomplishment.  After reading through all of my comic book subscriptions I was surprised to learn that the Joker revealed in the last panel of Batman: Knight of Vengeance is none other than…Martha Wayne!  Thomas Wayne’s wife became the twisted, psychotic villain after Bruce’s death, which also resulted in Thomas’ decision to wear the mantle of Batman.  Definitely a surprising development and I am incredibly eager to read the next two issues and see how this story arc will affect the overall DC relaunch.  Check out the cover for Batman: Knight of Vengeance #2 by Chad Johnson, and feel free to comment:

WATCH The Flashpoint Joker is…Martha Wayne!? FULL MOVIE ONLINE STREAMING

Flashpoint #2

Just picked and read “Flashpoint #2″ yesterday and boy did I enjoy it!  I definitely like where the overall arc is heading, and I absolutely love Andy Kubert‘s art.  I definitely enjoy the changes that they have made, but I am very curious as to the implications.  I am greatly looking forward to the next three issues.  I am hoping Geoff Johns will dive more into the war between Aquaman and Wonder Woman in Flashpoint #3.  Nevertheless, I appreciated the newest issue of Flashpoint.  It has amazing potential.  I think as of now I would rank Flashpoint #1 over #2 based on the surprise that Batman was in fact Thomas Wayne instead of Bruce Wayne.  I like the final shot that they left us with, and even though I am not a huge Batman fan I loved the dynamic that was posed with Thomas being Batman instead of Bruce Wayne or Dick Grayson or any other individual for that matter.  Here is some eye candy courtesy of Andy Kubert & Sandra Hope.  Check it out and do not feel shy to comment.
