The Father, the Daughter, and the Son

With the first four, only the true son one would remain.

But the others would transform, leaving just Gotham’s reign.

Traveling tents filled with laughter and flight

A colorful family born into the show

Then, one day tragedy would strike

Taken under the wing of the bat…signal aglow

The first of four, one day, became…

Confident, assured, R.I.P. the day

He became the second Bat to bear the name

Out with the old, in with the new, but still Gray

Another son colored in red

Quick as a whip; founded in truth

Tried and tested, he globe trotted, and bled

For the cowled Father, he gave his youth

Not last, maybe not least, the youngest of four

Deserves proper mention to complete Robin’s lore

The League came calling for the Crusader

One worthy to lend the armies of the ghoul.

However, the Dark Knight declined, denying the Maker

Like the youthful dragon the Bat was no fool

The beautiful daughter of the assassin’s immortal

Would fall…in love with her Father’s would-be protégé.

The two would sire the last of four, a lover’s quarrel

Would commence.  Eventually the Bat would fall prey.

The blood of the Bat marked as A positive

Trained well, but tormented; Wayne’s little gift and curse.

The World’s Greatest Detective would fall victim to his own causative

With a lot to learn Damien is blinded and hungers for thirst

There is of course more to this story, but for now we’ll sleep.

Because within these sleepy walls resides Master Wayne’s Keep.

It's a Batman Extravaganza!

So, after work today I picked up my obese black and tan Dachshund from my parents house and fretted on home only to be bombarded by an immense amount of awesome Batman news via MacBook.

First off, “Batman: The Dark Knight Rises” promotional movie poster, which released today, features the Bat logo framed by collapsing Gotham (presumably) skyscrapers.  Supposedly the Superman logo is hidden in the lower left-hand corner of the poster, hinting at Christopher Nolan producing credit in Zack Snyder‘s Superman reboot (The Man of Steel), however, I was unable to ‘see’ the logo even when it was directly pointed out to me.  It very well could be just another rumor amongst rumors, but regardless here is the poster in all its batiness:

Also, in Bat news was the much speculated CE of Batman: Arkham City was finally leaked via Best Buy.  Thus far no details on what the $100 package will include, but if it is anything like Arkham Asylum’s CE package it will be a for sure must have.  Here are some shots of the upcoming title, which releases this October:

And, finally, but not least importantly, is the newly released cover for Batman #2 featuring the artistic talent of Greg Capullo.  I cannot wait for DC’s relaunch so that I can  dive into the new Bat Family titles; I have a feeling I will be reading a lot more Batman come this fall.  Here is the aforementioned cover in color followed by the same cover in black and white (I am particularly partial to the black and white cover myself…variant perhaps?):
