The NEW 52: Week 4 Wrap-Up

In the final week of DC's big relaunch some the biggest hitters of the month led the September extravaganza to a stellar conclusion.  If you get a chance I would highly recommend picking up Aquaman #1, The Flash #1, and The Savage Hawkman #1.  These were by far the best of the best of the week.  Some definitely have some potential, but akin to Justice League #1, they kind of had a slow start and thus didn't make the recommedation list.  Of these I think that Green Lantern: The New Guardians and Teen Titans will take off in the coming months and will be truly great runs.

The Flashpoint Joker is…Martha Wayne!?

The Flashpoint series, as well as, its tie-ins have been phenomenal to say the least, and if DC accomplishes what they are trying to pull off than they will have changed the comic book industry and history of their franchises forever.  No small feat!

One of the most interesting of these tie-ins is Batman: Knight of Vengeance.  According to the numbers this tie-in has outsold any other tie-in including all of the Fear Itself tie-ins!  Which is definitely an amazing accomplishment.  After reading through all of my comic book subscriptions I was surprised to learn that the Joker revealed in the last panel of Batman: Knight of Vengeance is none other than…Martha Wayne!  Thomas Wayne’s wife became the twisted, psychotic villain after Bruce’s death, which also resulted in Thomas’ decision to wear the mantle of Batman.  Definitely a surprising development and I am incredibly eager to read the next two issues and see how this story arc will affect the overall DC relaunch.  Check out the cover for Batman: Knight of Vengeance #2 by Chad Johnson, and feel free to comment:

52 new #1′s debuting after Flashpoint #5

Everyone has been a buzz about DC’s new announcement that after Flashpoint #5 releases there will be a radical altering of the DC Universe thus creating 52 new #1 issues that could range from anything…to well, anything really.  The entire mythos of characters could be changed and new/old characters can and could be reintroduced with the sudden shake up of the universe.  Essentially it is anyone’s guess!  I very excited and scared to see what the new DC Universe has in store and what that will mean for longtime comic book fans.  I have feeling that my comic book budget might skyrocket during September of this year.  Nevertheless, check out this still of Justice League #1…the first of firsts if you will.
